Hi! I'm Alexis Schroeder and I am currently located in Eau Claire Wisconsin.
I am that person that even when I'm supposed
to be relaxing on vacation in the tropics or when everyone is sitting inside, I will be out and about, adventuring and taking pictures instead. Basically no matter where I am or what I'm doing, you can find me with my camera. I find it to be amazing that cameras can capture a moment in time, so we can always look back at it and remember that exact moment for what it was.
My love for photography started when I was in middle school when my dad bought a cheap little pink camera. I would sneak away when the sun was setting and take pictures of the trees, flowers, and numerous cats, horses, chickens, and cows we had, along with anything I figured at that time was interesting to photograph. It was around this time I discovered what angles were and how they truly make a picture. Depending on the angle is how you are going to remember that one moment for years to come. So now, whenever I take a picture, I ask myself, "Is this how I want to remember this moment?"
Ever since I first got my hands on a National Geographic magazine, I fell in love with the alien-like landscapes and exotic people and animals the photographers captured through their photography. I also loved how their work told stories and how the pictures I was looking at caught my attention and made it very hard for me to turn to the next page. I've always wondered where in the world these people went to capture these picturesque places and how did they get that picture?!
I didn't start taking taking pictures of people until I had some friends and family members ask me to take some of their family. Once they had received their pictures, I got a few phone calls from their friends asking me to take some pictures for them. Not knowing what type of pictures I wanted to take and specialize in, I decided I wanted to try everything to see what I liked the best. I did numerous photo shoots with babies, young kids, family, maternity, engagement, wedding, different sports and seniors. In the end, I decided I liked doing them all! Capturing moments people get to remember for the rest of their life is something I found to be very enjoyable and rewarding.
Traveling has always been a driving passion of mine. I feel traveling the world and learning about new cultures and a different way to live life, is the best way to grow as a person, and it also broadens your knowledge, and makes you think differently about the way you want to live your own life. Traveling has also opened up a door to a whole new world for how I think about capturing moments, through pictures.
I enjoy taking pictures, because I am such a visual person and pictures are how I remember everything. I even put words into a story I can picture, so I can remember it. When I take pictures for people, it is extremely important for me to capture exactly what someone wants to be able to remember, with just the right angle and lighting.
